Pyropia Engine

A JavaScript engine for whole worlds. One file to run them, and a server only when you want company.

Pyropia is a game engine, a world editor and a mod system, designed to ask very little of the people who use it. Compose a world in the editor, extend it in plain JavaScript, and deliver it as a folder anyone can open.

The name belongs to a red seaweed that grows in sheets only a cell or two thick and still holds through the tide. The engine aims for the same balance: a light footprint, and worlds that keep running with no install, no account and no connection.

The engine is still being finished. This page is an early look, and downloads will follow.

Runs from a single page

A finished game opens from its own HTML file, offline, with nothing to install.

Multiplayer by choice

The room server adds shared worlds, accounts and cloud saves. Without it, the game plays on.

Open to extension

A mod is one JavaScript file, written against a documented API.

Inside the engine

World editor

Shape terrain, then place buildings, creatures, people and quests. Everything on the map opens its own settings.

Mod API

Creatures, vehicles, districts and wonders share one documented API.

Game export

A game exports to a folder or ZIP that stands alone, with its editor or without it.

Room server

Shared worlds, accounts, mail, a community board and cloud saves, from one server.

Editor agent

An MCP client such as Claude Code can work in your open editor, through the same tools you use.

Trimancer renderer

Renders through WebGL2 or WebGPU, in twelve picture styles.
